Getting started
DVDs are a tremendous media delivery platform. Their images and videos are full-screen (including 16:9 wide-screen), the audio quality is good, and they are interactive. Simply click a menu button to jump immediately to a video, a scene, or behind-the-scenes stills.
Creating these interactive DVDs, with all their menus and buttons, used to take a Hollywood feature-film budget and expensive hardware. With Adobe Premiere Pro and Encore, you can create professional-looking DVDs on your computer in minutes.
Adobe Encore is now included with Adobe Premiere Pro and has a collection of customizable DVD menu templates with backgrounds and buttons—static or animated. If you like, you can even use your own images or videos as backgrounds.
Adobe Encore CS5 takes DVD authoring much further than previous versions. You can use Adobe Encore to create standard-definition (SD) DVDs or high-definition (HD) Blu-ray Discs, and you can even output your DVD project to Flash.
To be able to install the software, you must have administrative privileges or be able to validate as an administrator.
Before you install, apply the latest Windows updates to your computer and reboot the computer.
1. Close all applications currently running on your system—including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browsers.Adobe also recommends that you temporarily turn off virus protection during the installation process.
2. Do one of the following:
Windows:
- Insert the DVD in your drive, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the installer does not launch automatically, navigate to the Adobe CS5.5 folder at the root level on the DVD and double-click Set-up.exe to start the installation process.
- If you downloaded the software from the web, the installer will self-extract and launch automatically.If the installer does not launch automatically, open the folder, navigate to the Adobe CS5.5 folder, double-click Set-up.exe, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Mac:
- Insert the DVD in your drive, navigate to the application folder at the root level on your disk, double-click Install.app, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you downloaded the software from the web, open the folder, navigate to the application folder, double-click Install.app, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
If you are installing as an upgrade, the installer will check your system to find the valid upgrade product.If the installer cannot find the upgrade product, it will ask you to enter the serial number of the product being upgraded.You can also install the software as a trial, then enter your new and previous serial numbers in the serialization screen displayed when the software launches.
If you are installing CS5.5 Subscription Edition software, you will need to be connected to the Internet. The installer will prompt you if it detects that you are offline. An Adobe ID is required to purchase a subscription . If for some reason, you cannot connect to the Internet, you can install the trail version of the software and enter your subscription serial number and Adobe ID during installation. - Installing on Mac using long folder names may result in a crash.
- On Mac, you cannot install Encore on the root drive. (#BG044824)
- When installing on Vista64, an incorrect default installation location appears. However, the application is installed in the correct location: c:program files(x86). (#BG064131)
- 'Total Size' displayed in the installer Options screen includes space occupied by installation components that do not appear in the component list. Therefore, the total size displayed may not equal the size of the listed components. (#BG059229)
- The installation may take between 20 minutes to over an hour depending on the product and the number of components chosen to be installed.(#BG050030)
